ABOUT THE EVENT

The 4th DARPROPERTY EXPO exhibition took place at New Arusha Hotel in Arusha from 28th– 30th July. The event was basically focused on real estate issues that is to say selling and acquiring houses, apartments, land plus other different forms of real estate. The event not only featured our firm, ABC Attorneys but also featured top financial institutions and mortgage lenders such as KCB Bank and Stanbic Bank. Related Government agencies like NSSF  also vibrantly participated in the event as exhibitors , in addition there were construction and building service providers exhibiting their products.

OUR ROLE

As ABC Attorneys a team of four people made the journey to Arusha to participate in the exhibition ,these included; Sunday Ndamugoba , DakilaAlloyce, Gerald Magubika and Arnold Ruchaki. ABC Attorneys played a big part mostly in providing free legal advice to the visitors at the exhibition particularly on matters of real estate such as land registration, land acquisition, providing information on how to acquire a title deed, procedure for land registration for both village and general land just to mention a few.We also gave legal advice on other various law related matters such as some visitors inquired about trademark and copyright registration , business registration matters, contract related issues. This is done as part of our legal Aid program for the year 2017-18.

OBSERVATIONS

We observed that many people in Arusha are not aware of the different laws needed to guide them in different matters relating to their day to day activities including land conveyance matters. Most of them instead of using qualified lawyers to prepare contracts for land acquisition, they go to the so called “Waandishi wa UMMA” who are not qualified enough to prepare contracts.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Among a few things to reconsider awareness of the public on laws, we should try to find means of making these laws readily accessible to the public via a website to help the public at large which will also be a way of the firm serving the public.
