There have been recent amendments to the  Insurance Act [CAP 394] of Tanzania:

  • The Miscellaneous Amendments Bill (No.2 of 2017) amends the Insurance Act (No.10 of 2009)
  • The Commissioner of Insurance now has powers to set minimum rates of premiums payable for different classes of insurance by publishing the orders in the Government Gazatte.
  • This amendment now requires customers to pay insurers all premiums directly regardless of whether they are using insurance brokers or not.
